**1.**As a student, maybe I have a different perspective of others who have reviewed this book. I own controls several other books and I'm not impressed by it. The author has a way or to take simple ideas and draw them in ways that make them difficult to understand. For the $ 185 we paid for this book I expected information presented clearly makes a serious attempt at teaching. Unfortunately, I'm consult Wikipedia or other free resources before this book when I have a problem. Sometimes it seems textbook authors feel they must present material in ways abstruse difficult to take seriously. Not worth the money.

I think the teachers are in this book and say "this is great. It contains everything you want to teach." Students look at this book and say "I have no idea what this book trying to tell me." The difference is that teachers already know the material while students are trying to learn first.

**2.**I am an electrical engineer and went through this book (except the last chapter) in my class of linear control systems. It is a very good book that is easy to read and enjoyable. He explains things well and makes things easier to understand. Even friends who do not usually like to read the book to read this book.

My major complaint with this book is in chapters 8 and 9. When making examples in place of the roots, the author simply say "using MATLAB" and then makes the plot. This my friends and I went crazy because we're doing the exam hand, no "using MATLAB" and even if we were, you still do this sort of thing by hand first to make sure you have an understanding of the concepts before progress to the use of software for modeling. And especially in the examples-I mean, come on, really? It is pure laziness.

The rest of the book is great, conceptually, the author explain the root locus fine. It is only in instances where an RL needs to be drawn to this book really is up to par, IMO. This book is still one of my favorites (like someone who reads all the books for each class), I'm sure I'll read it (or at least part of it) again, and I recommend it.
